I'll second that! The new 6-speed trans is SO much better than the one on my old FLHT.
My Dyna has already had the recall work done to it, the only issue now is the inner primary bearing that needs replacing every 15,000km. Fortunately this is a free repair for the life of the bike or until HD comes up with a permanent fix.
This issue is decribed in detail in the tech threads. I called the MoCo customer service and they said this effected Dynas produced before 12/05/05. Mine was 12/07/05 and was repaired before it was released from the shipping warehouse. Not a big fix anyway. If your curious call the MoCo hot line from the HD website and read them your vin number and they will tell you what the story is on your bike. Read the tech threads because there are several good posts about the 06 Dynas. Good Luck & Enjoy.

I call this a free trans oil change every 15,000 miles. I'll be showing up at the dealer with my $7 quart of redline shockproof........"I'm here for my free bearing....please put THIS oil back in Ok?"
I think the inner primary bearing deal will be fixed soon. I beleive they want to put this tranny in the touring bikes, and I dont see the MoCo releasing another year of bikes with the same issue. As far as the recall, I am still on the waiting list....but I never trust the light anyhow. Tranny is awesome. I will be burried with this 06WG....I LOVEIT!
I know this might be a dumb question....but I just purchased an 04 wide glide...noticed the shifting seemed a tad rough...especially the downshifting...is this related???
Not a dumb question at all. What ever you might be experiancing with yours, would be different. This recall is concerning the 06's with a six speed. Your 04 would not be the same. I have an 05 and have at times noticed that the tranny isn't as smooth as I would like. My wife has an 06 low rider. It is in the shop right now getting the warranty work done.

As phreak suggested, check oil level, maybe change it. Also check clutch adjustment. If it's still doing it, try a thinner oil. It might be the cooler weather causing it. Then again, since you just bought it, it may be normal and you'll just have to get used to it. Is this your first Harley? They all need to be shifted "with authority". Not a LOT of force, but more than a rice burner requires. That's just the way they are designed.

Try some Redline Shockproof Heavy oil in it. Look here www.redlineoil.com
I was out on Saturday 4/21/2007 riding my 2006 Dyna Low Rider when lo and behold my neutral light comes on. I was in fourth gear. It stayed on for about ten minutes until it finally went out. Guess I need to call the dealer and make an appointment. The bike is still under warranty. The mileage at the time was under 3100 miles.
