I am having a problem wiring my bike for trailer lights. I ride a 2001 FXDWG and haven't been able to find one of those cool plug and play adapters for trailer lights so I am splicing my own.
I have got the tail lights to come on, but when I put on the brake lights the tail lights go off and the brake lights don't come on. I am using different lights for the tail and brake lights. Would that make some kind of difference? If so, then I can wire them up to the same lights. Its just that I have 4 lights on the back and I wanted to use them all.

Get a Bushtec harness with isolator. If you're not using an isolator, any short in the trailer wiring has the potential to fry your bikes wiring. The harness easily sllices into your harness with the included connectors. works like a dream. If you have any questions, go to Bushtec's web site and e-mail your question to them. They are real friendly and John will give you the real scoop.
