Im trying to install a backrest on my 08 super glide custom. I got the chrome cover bolt off but the cover dosent come all the way off because of the rear suspension. Also have the bolt off that holds the turn signal. My problem is how the heck do you get the plate for the backrest on there? I cant get the rear fender to pull away from the support brace.
Areyou are talking about the long signal mount bount which comes out from inside the fender?
You will need to jack the bike up so the swingarm and rear wheel will lower. If you still don't have the clearance, you will need to remove the lower shock bolts.
If you don't have a lift, I have heard of guys letting the air out of the back tire and have been sucessful removing the bolt.
