I am trying to purchase a '92 Daytona, from the original owner, I have know the bike since it was new, always indoor storage and very low miles. lurking here I have noted some people saying they are hard to get parts for.
Question #1 what parts are hard to get ? Are the parts specific to the '91-'95 dynas or the whole evo family ? Ia the support in the aftermarket world ? Moat accessories I ooked at, seats, tins and such seem to be listed.
Question #2
Is it possible (economically fiesable) to put the new larger diameter fromt end on the '92?
The only person I've seen post recently about that particular vintage dyna was SgtThump (who recently traded for a new non-dyna bike). It was basically accessories and I don't think his frustration was so much that he couldn't find parts as much as it was they didn't make similar parts then to what they have today. Sissy bar for example, he would have liked to have a detachable one but couldn't find anything.
I think he had a '92. Why don't you send him a pm or email and get his thoughts?
With the internet, finding parts is pretty easy I would think. I'd start with J&P and work from there. I'm not sure what parts you anticipate needing. You may wanna talk to your local shop and get their input (from someone knowledgable..) I think a counterguy told me recently that parts can be back ordered...meaning parts that are no longer in the catalog can be ordered (I think) if you're willing to wait. You may wanna check that out though. I have order parts that are not in the most recent catalog...and gotten them.
It's a 2000 Low Rider it's been to Sturgis 3 times from MD once via Texas. The paint isa custom paint job from Propaint (now McCullough's cycles in Balto MD). The paint was done in 2002. It started out as 2 tone black & yellow withIMHO the worst tank graffics HD ever did (that script writing)
