pretty much related to my other post regarding the footboards, but figured I would split the two issues out.
I have the Mustang passenger pillion for the OL, an extended backrest, and the Mustang backrest pad.
I don't know if this is the case on all HD's or not, but on the WG the backrest bracket cants back at an angle. This is fine for the standard low backrest, but if you put the extension on, it allows the passenger to really lay back a ways... but that isn't the problem.
One of the issues the OL has is her *** really gets sore after about an hour.... even with the Mustang. I am thinking the position the extended backrest puts her in is allowing her to sit on the top of her asscheeks instead on the bottom of her *** (does that make sense?).... sort of like if you kick back in an office chair for too long, the top of your asscheeks start to get sore.
Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? I'm thinking a backrest that had some angle back in it to account for the angle in the bracket, but I don't see anything made like that out there (doesn't mean it doesn't exist though)
take the pad off the sissybar.... my wife is more comfortable without it than with...gives her more room front and rear and a better angle to lean back.... also might allow her to sit on the seat at different pressure points thereby relieving some of ther pain.
all else fails these guys will fix the seat for you to her weight and height .... www.asweetseat.com
Iv'e got the Sundowner with the tall sissy barand short pad.Itgives her more room to scoot back and still have the comfort of the pad. I had a tall pad on before and she definetly likes the short pad better.
FYI -Also I've installed the HD footboards and she loves those too.
I am usually on the back of Joe.1955's wide glide, and we take very long trips. I prefer the tall backrest for the long haul, but it really can cramp your backside. I just make a point to scoot my butt back and sit up straighter periodically to relieve that pain. (Usually I do this at a red light or stop sign if possible.) I did often think a more forward back rest would help. But now I am in the process of solving the problem by getting on my own darn bike, and not using his back rest anymore.
you can alwats send that p pad out to one of the seat fabricators and let them redo padding to cant her forward a little and put an insert in where she rests on it sat on one with a gel insert pretty cool
I'm no ***-anatomisist ( is that even a word???) But my wifes azz is cmfy on the Badlander seat. It looks gd-awful pillowie (is that a word?? "pillowie"???) but nice on the azz![:@]
