Default help with tank lift hitting trees

Hi, I installed a 2" tank lift and the clamp bolt on the upper tree on the left side of my bike is hitting the tank. It has actually chipped the paint. Any suggestions to remedy this? I was thinking of installing a upper longer bolt on the tank lift and putting an acorn nut on the end. That way the tree will hit the bolt before the tank.

What I have seen on here that people do in this situation is, they remove the rear tank bolt and ream the hole oblong towards the front of the bike, you can use a dremel or file, this allows the tank to be moved back farther giving clearence needed.

you should have some room to pull back the tank then tighten without reaming the hole... try that first!

+1 EZRIDERPGH

Takes only a few minutes to elongate the rear tank bolt hole about 1/8". Problem solved. Coolness abounds.

I decided to go without the lift. I tried to move the tank back but it was already all the way. First, my blinkers were hitting the tank. I fixed that. The the throtle cable was rubing the top of the tank. I really don't want that scratching my tank.

Did you relocate your blinkers?

I just pointed the blinker more upwards and that did the trick.
