went for a 200 mile rid with 3 of my rice buddies today and was able to open her up for the first time since getting it back from 20k service. had it up to 100 (give or take) a few times and the guys behind me said that they saw fire out the pipesduring deceleration. i've never been told this before. is it normal? or did the service dept screw that up to? (wrong fork oil and broken AC cover)i havea jetted carb and Vance n Hines Big Shots.
yup, normal, nothing to worry about. Unburned fuel in the pipes. Mine does it too, always has, I can even make it do it some times. Usually in a long underpass at night.

do you just gun it and then let off to do it? hopefully at less than 100 mph?I'd like to be able to do it at will sometimes. in fact when they told me about it my response was 'COOL!'
My old bike was carburated and it ran RICH, I would get it to 'spit' flames by revving the motor really quickly and then snapping the throttle back to idle! Works especilly well when your decelerating, pull the clutch in and rev the motor then release the clutch. AWESOME at night!
