I first did the entire stage 1, Power Commander/2 into 1 exhaust/Big Sucker trio. That seemed to give me better sound, a little gain in top-end, but nothing noticeable in seat-of-the-pants riding.
Then I jumped to a 107" bore kit, added more intake, larger throttle body/injectors, head build and cams. The difference was absolute! However, it wasn't cheap and I'll continue to upgrade the engine's other weaknesses to match my new found power.
I don't know what you want in added performance, but if you are willing to sacrifice top-end speed for quicker accelleration, the cheapest means is just to gear it down. The stage 1 mods are still desirable though, and can be done for around $1000. I did my stage 1 for about $650.
