Going to changetoday but in the service manual they say to remove the clutch incpection cover also? Do you have to do this or can you just drain and replace oil? I do not want to make the trip tot he stealer for a gasket.
Bike has 3500mi and the dealer did the 1000mi service and adjusted clutch. Im just replacing all Syn 3.
Like 07 StreetBob said, you add oil thru the inspection plate and you use the lip of the bottom of the inspection hole to know when it's full (standing upright not leaned over on the stand...if I recall...). Hope this helps...
My 07 took exactly 1 qt.,the stock cover has an O ring so unlessit's cracked or old just reuse it.Note:After my 1000MI. service I found mine had been overfilled(I installed a custom cover @ 2500 MI.) so this required a different gasket. My bike shifted better after I put the proper amount of (syn 3) oil in it.

That's what all these 06 and newer owners are finding out, no primary chain inspection cover, thus everything is done thru the clutch inspection cover (derby cover).
You should be able to reuse a derby cover o-ring many, many times. I can count on one hand how many I've bought and I have over 150,000 miles on big twins.
