How well does the Screaming Eagle Stage I AC kit compare with the Heavy Breather or Big Sucker?
I don't know much about the heavy breather but the SE kit and the big sucker kit are about the same from a performance perspective. If you don't mind paying more and not getting a real K&N filter, then the SE a/c is fine. The SE filter element is probably fine but, IMO, you can't beat K&N. Just "recharge" them every few thousand miles and the same filter will last almost forever. You can buy a recharge kit for less than 15 bucks and it will recharge a filter several times.

I understand that the new SE is an oil free filter. Correct? How do you clean it?

I have the hypercharger . The butterflies work automatic to give you the right amout of airflow. I can tell a big defference from the stock. If you never tried one don't knock them.

I am on the prowl for a new a/c as well. After doing some homework I had the chance encounter of meeting Bryan Klock from KlockWorks in Mitchell SD. He really sold me on the Crossroads A/C and a Terry-TV-II unit. I have looked at the HB and the HPRcharger. What sold me on the crossroads is that Klock runs them on most and recommends them to all AND his wife has snagged a few records at Bonneville over the last year to boot. I know they are not as well known but he swears by them. 2cents worth. Good luck

The hypercharger is mostly for looks but it IS a stage 1, high flow air cleaner. However, that's really all it is. It does belong in the group with the others, though, for that reason. My buddy has one on his bike and it has the exact same K&N filter in it that came with my Big Sucker kit.
I'm perfectly willing to bow to anyone's first-hand knowledge. All I can say is when I was looking in to it I found a couple of articles that had dyno numbers that could be read as the high efficiency air filter getting starved by the bizarre cover. I can't find the articles now, but I did find a lot of people selling after-market "trap doors" for hyperchargers that are supposed to increase air to the filter, so I'm guessing that what I remember is correct.

Klock or Crossroads? Just google Klockworks and also Crossroads Performance. Hope it helps. Good looking stuff butespecially if performance is what your'e after. According to someone who knows(Klock).
