Kuryakyn Forward Controls
I bought a set of Kuryakyn forward controls (#9063) for an 07 Dyna, from an ebay store and will attempt to install tonight. When I opened the box and looked over the installation instructions, I noticed that they only give instructions for someone leaving the old shifter spline in. I plan on removing the old shifter spline.
My question is to someone who has installed this particular kit, does the kit include a part(s) for covering the hole left behind after remove the old shifter? I looked over the parts list and don’t see what would be used to do this.
I tried to call Kuryakan, but was put on hold for so long, that I thought I would put this out to the forum.
Thanks,

I installed that kit on my 08 Street bob a couple weeks ago. Pretty easy install overall. From everything I saw there is no intent with that kit to remove the original spline. It comes with a chrome beauty cap to cover the old spline. I think I remember reading others had used a hacksaw and cut off the original spline and then bought a cap from their HD dealers to cap the hole. Sounded easy enough but I have this thing about cutting on a new bike when I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing. Also, you might want to check this thread https://www.hdforums.com/m_3427987/tm.htm. I haven't read all of it but this guy seems to have had some issues removing the spline. For what its worth, I dont really notice the chrome cap anymore and its nice to know that I can switchback to mids quickly if I decide to sell it.
The Kuryakyn kit is ABSOLUTELY designed for leaving all of the mid-shift components installed and just move the shifter itself forward to the new spline. If you choose to remove the old components, you are on your own. The only visible evidence left behind is the old spline which does get covered with a supplied chrome cap. Everything else is tucked neatly and securely out of the way. I actually chose the kit for 2 reasons, first because it's easy to install yourself. Second, I like the idea that the bike can quickly be switched back to stock mid-controls in the event I ever decide to sell the bike. My potential buyers won't be limited to only those that want or can handle forward controls.

My 2 cents...leave the spline and put the cap on it. If you sell or decide you don't like the forward controls, life will be much easier. I removed my forward controls because I didn't care for them and it was a pretty simple job to remove the cap and hook up mids.
