I have a 2008 low rider. I installed THe H-D Forward COntrol kit because the info on the forum here was that it could be done without removing the primary case. There was nothing but positive information posted. I instell the forward Control kit and immeadiately had problems getting the bike in neutral. I posted for information about the problem and got a posts from people witht he same problem. I followed WS6 Formula's install intructions and cut off the shift lever and now can not return to original. I also followed the information that was attached to his install intructions about being able to spread the original shift lever enough to remove it. Turst me on this. It can not be done without removing the outer and inner primary covers. I will need to take the motorcycle into the dealer now and pay high Dollars to have the rear shift rod installed. Unless you are willing to give up finding neutral without many many tries or will ing to spend upward of $750 for controls and install labor, Stay with the mids and highway pegs. I really liek the forwards but can not tollerate not being able to get the bike in neutral. It is hard on the clutch to keep it held in at every traffic light!

I have the forwards that was istalled before ever left with the bike myself.by just looking at trying to remove the shift arm I tend to agree with you on seeing theres no way to replace it with the longer arm unless you remove the inner and outer primary.even if you could get it spread enough to lift off how in theworld would you get the longer arm back on unless you wanna dick that up too.

I'm confused by this post. I have always prefered forward controls. My 94 Lowrider came with mids and I easily converted when they came available for that bike, never had a problem finding neutral. My 08 Fat Bob came with forwards, and I have no problem getting into neutral.

there is a differnt kit for the 06 and later dynas .The differnce in the 06 later kit mainly is a longer shift arm from end of trans where the earlier kits you use the original shift arm I believe which is shorter
I opted to have the dealer put them on my 06.
He gave me a great deal on the instal off season and I figure that I have saved lots of cash using the manual and this forum so what the hell. Getter' done right. Just MOP

I can get mine into neutral from second every time and since I went to a heavier fluid I can get neutral from first most times.
I bet yourlittle sistercould do it...hundreds of us have done it this way...you should immediately sell me your Dyna before its too late....and If you cant hack it maybe you should just buy a Honda and move along.
your clutch only wears as you pull in or release,and then only the spring plates are being worn. So holding the clutch in actually saves your clutch from being pulled in and released that many less times. That said of course it's important to be able to get into neutral for scratching pouposes or to light up a smoke,maybe whip out a map or to salute someone,or plain rest your hand,sorry to hear about your troubles dude, but at least it's not your clutch you have to worry about.
