Default deer suck

well, it happened. i was riding home from work, the long way (of course) on a beautiful sunny day. may 13th to be exact. i had just rolled 7000 miles on the bike (2000 in the past month). im cruising along about 60 mph, and as im going around a rightward curve, this deer jumps out in front of me and freezes in place. since there was no oncoming traffic, i swerved around it into the oncoming lane, and when i was about to lean back into the corner and get back into my lane, my back tire locked up. so i tried to ride out the skid like they tell you to in the msf. i did for a while, the bike went down, tires in front, at about 35, i rode that until about 25 feet from the ditch, when i came off, the bike slid into the ditch, and flipped and slid on its other side (wasnt one side bad enough??) fortunately for me, the ditch was all soft, loose dirt, so i managed to walk away without a scratch. +1 for full leathers. from looking at my gear, it appears i balanced my entire body on my wallet while i was sliding on the pavement, which literally saved my a**. so please, watch out for deer. it was broad daylight, and this one still got me even though i missed it. the bike is pretty bad. fortunately the engine seems alright, but there is still some damage. the handlebars got bent around on themselves on the left side, smashed the left turnsignal switch cluster, both mirrors, the rear left signal snapped off, exhaust is somewhat flattened and scraped all to hell, and the bike has a million other scratches on it.

i will now humbly ask anyone willing to sell any of the following parts fairly cheap, to email me with prices and contact information

left and right mirrors*
handlebars*
derby cover*
stock rubber left grip*
rear left turn signal
gas tank
rear fender
left handlebar switch cluster
engine guard
sissy bar pad
speedometer
right switch housing
front master cylinder cover

(* transactions in progress)

(the bike is an '01 FXD)

the email is aroby@prexar.com . any help would be much appreciated.

and now for some pictures from the crash: (sorry they're small, the cell phone was in thumbnail mode) in the second one down, the red dot is where the deer was, and the circle in the third is where i landed

Ride safe.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad you are okay....that's the main thing. There are a lot of deer around here and I am terrified of that very thing happening to me. I have hit three in my cage.

Sounds like you handled it pretty well, could have been a lot worse.

Sorry to hear about the bike.

I'm sure you will get a lot of support from the people on this forum.

Glad to hear you are OK, the bike can be fixed. You have my word come October I will do mypart to keep as many of them SOBs off the Highways. They are of much better use on the Dining table. Ride Safe.

I have a stock derby cover I can ship now. I have stock grips I can ship as soon as I fit my new ones (in the mail). You are probably better off buying a decent set for 30-50 bucks, but let me know. I also have a stock HD forward control shift lever if you need it, can't believe that your lever could have made it unscathed. If you go with the Kury Panacea tailight you can ditch the other turn sig and cut your losses. Look for the denim black SB fender some dude posted for sale for a C note earlier tonight. Glad you are OK. May sound nuts, but I advise Endurox after a good beating. You can get it at GNC and it really helps to repair the torn muscle tiss. (on a micro level) Keeps me going through the week. Good luck, and PM me if you want the grips and derby.
