Another XiED Question - Update!!!!!
I have a 07 Lowrider with SEII Slip-ons. \\; The last few weeks I have been looking at the nightrider sight and reading the posts here on this site. \\; I want to purchase one the fuel enhancers for my bike but I am not sure which one to go with and cant really find the info I am looking for through the search feature. \\; Which one would you guys suggest that I get for my bike? \\;Either the XiED or the 02 IED? \\; My original thought was to go for the XiED becuase it drops the AFR to 13.8 but I just want to make sure this is the correct decision before I purchase. \\; IF not let em knwo and I will look into the 02 IED which drops the AFR to 14.2. \\; As information I have also been looking into purchasing a big sucker or a heavy breather in the next couple of months so that needs to be taken into thought as well. \\;Thanks for you input.
I just went for the XiEDs. Installed them last night and will ride to work tomorrow for the first ride with them.
Reading the posts, I think the X is a better option but I can't say why.

I went with the XIEDs and am happy with the results. I am running Screamin Eagle slipons and a K&N Stage I A/C. Cobra has a good table on their website showing optimal (according to them) air/fuel ratios for power, rideability, mileage, ect at http://www.fi2000r.com/page.php?page=41 Looking at that chart it seems 13.8:1 is where you want to be.
For a less than $100 fueler option (XIEDs) it was worth trying it out. If the XIEDs made my bike smoke like a wood stove or smell like gas I would have returned them for the original IEDs. Check out the threads, it seems to be pretty positive. I also called Stephen Mullen at nightrider and he answered all my questions and more before I ordered.

Depends on what you want. I have tried both and settled on the IED (as opposed to the XIED) because of the difference in fuel economy. I mostly ride around town, some highway. I didn't notice much difference in performance either way, but a lower idle speed with the XIED. I also have the SE slipons and did the stage I air cleaner. I don't think the Stage I made much difference either, but I don't use full throttle, tend to short shift. Definitely smoother throttle response with either one though. The best mod I did was the slipons, which you already have.
Sig,
I am running a tank now to get a gauge on mileage. Most of my riding is around town, to and from work. I really don't do much rec riding since the bike is my main trans. How big of a diff did you see in mileage between the X and the orig? I was running about 40mpg with a FuelPak, SE streets, and KN3909.

am currently running Xied's and I have a stage 1 remap to my ECM, I am satisfied, EXCEPT, if you put 2-1 pipes on, the ied's will cause ECM codes P0130 and P0150 = "lean conditions"
Steve Mullen is trying to figure this one out, I leave mine on because these codes are not "true"in the sense that conditons are lean.
I get 13.8 AFR I am pretty sure as I can feel a smoother, cooler running engine. 2-1 have good scavenging for O2 and this could be related..I await Steve's word on this, if any of you guys have heard anything, let us know, please.

Damn, I guess I am just plain stupid! I don't have a f****** clue what the above posts are talking about and I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about my FXDLI--evidently not!

docsg,
If you are not read up on SERT, XIEDs, OIEDs, SEIIs, EFI, 2n2one, CO2, ECM, P0130, P0150, and AFR don't worry. I had to look up what an FXDLI was. Ride on with your low injected self.

jr,
If you are going to stay with the slip-ons and get a big sucker with no other fuel management device (Fuelpak, SERT, PC III, etc.) I would recommend the XIED's. The difference will be more present in your riding than the first gen IED's. My 2 c's

I had the basic O2 IED's and now have the XiED's. Bike seems a little cooler and runs great. The only down side to the XiEDs is that there is a little more variation as the computer tries to keep the AFR at 13.8 (I think its about 0.2 +/-) compared to when it tries to keep it at 14.2. Honestly, I cant feel it. All I can tell is the bike runs cooler and smoother. Best advice is to take a few minutes and call Steve from Nightrider. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I have spoken with and is always happy to explain anything toyou.
