Default Torque question?

So, is there a point where the engine is makingmore much power/torquethan the stock drive belt can handle? Any ideas where that is? I'm thinking of doing a "mild" build this fall/winter and want to be prepared if I need to convert to chain.

Because it's what gets you going. You really don't have to worry until you build a beast of a motor. I know of a bike locally that runs about 100 ft. lbs. of torque and 100 hp that runs a belt with no problems. If you are into tire smoking the belt might slip but short of drag racing and burnouts you will be O.K. Check out this link.

I was kind of leaning towards a 110+hp build, and even more on the torque. But, I may slack off that a little bit, not sure yet. Just trying to feel out the waters.

the OE stuff has held 120 to 130 lbs of torque on many builds of guys on this board.

I would upgrade on a 120 in. motor.
