Torque question?

Torque question?
So, is there a point where the engine is makingmore much power/torquethan the stock drive belt can handle? Any ideas where that is? I'm thinking of doing a "mild" 
build this fall/winter and want to be prepared if I need to convert to chain.

Because it's what gets you going. You really don't have to worry until you build a beast of a motor. I know of a bike locally that runs about 100 ft. lbs. of torque and 100 hp that runs a belt with no problems. If you are into tire smoking the belt might slip but short of drag racing and burnouts you will be O.K. Check out this link.

I was kind of leaning towards a 110+hp build, and even more on the torque. But, I may slack off that a little bit, not sure yet. Just trying to feel out the waters.
