Default Oil Question

Thanks for all the welcomes, I think Honda was wrong " You meet the nicest people on a Harley". Can't wait for the manual to show up, started trying to get some things done this weekend. I can't wait to get on the road.I have a couple questions, 1st I orderd new gas caps, found out the caps are not the same. The right is vented and the left is not.. I am assuming that since the gas feeds from the left tank it creates a vacum that pulls gas from the right tank...Now the biggy, since the bike had been sitting for 15+ years when I had it shipped out here I had it deliverd to the local Harley dealer. They flushed the gas tanks, replaced a gasket on the carb, fixed a couple electrical problems, changed oil and filter.. After they got it running it had a very slight oil leak at the left rear of the engine.
They suggested I put some miles on it and see what other leaks showed up after all that time sitting, then fix all of them at once..
I took a couple short rides that weekend to get a feel for the bike. The leak was clean oil. I rode to work monday morning, about half way to work "10 miles" the oil preasure light started to flicker, I look down at the gauge and it was about 5lbs. at a steady cruise the light was off, when accelerating the light would flicker. At work I noticed the leak looked like milk choclate. Remember when you had a blown head gasket on the oldhot rod and water got in the oil? Thats what it looks like..So I'm thinking some condensation must have built up in the motor while sitting for all those years, couple oil changes and I should be fine.. I pulled the seat and oil tank cap, full and clean fresh looking oil. I had been reading in the oil forum about the engine and trans using the same oil and some people suggest a conversion to seperate them.. 79 Shovel, was that shared or seperate? Has the conversion allready been done? How can I tell? At the back left of the engine there is what looks like a screw on oil filter, but I know there is one in the oil tank.. Whats up?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice...........................Doug
