I tried this on the general board but got no response. I am really curious about this because I was told that I could damage my motor if run without baffles. It could not be tuned enough to not be lean. Thanks for any input I am confused about what to do.
Here in Sweden the dealers say that you should have the bike re-mapped if you change the exhaust. The bikes goes very lean because
of pollution regulations and if you opens the exhaust it even go more leaner and this is not a god thing for the engine.
When they run the bike on the dyno and re-mapping it to get a correct air/fuel ratio the horsepower output usually increases
15-20 hp.and the engine runs better.
No baffles all sound(bad at that) no performance. I would at least put in Big City Thunder Baffles or mod your own lolipops (thats all they are). I do run baffles in my setup.
S&S slashcut slipons. No baffles to speak of. They are the closest I've seen to the original Sreamin' Eagle slipons. As for noise, baffles or not does'nt make much difference. I'm as quiet as a mouse around home and most of the time I'm out riding as well. however if the need arises I know I can make enough noise to wake the dead. It all depends on how you ride it. Performancewise I have a high flow aircleaner and a SERT fitted and I'm pretty impressed with the way it runs. The standard header pipes on Harleys have always been good going back to at least the Evo era. As for tuning it, the basics are the same as for a carby engine. If you let it breathe more freely it will need more fuel to prevent overheating. Instead of changing jets you're changing the length of time your injectors stay open.
Hello put quite baffles in my V&H big shots .Seem to give it a bit more power and sounds better.Stopped the popping to.I run with ness big sucker and
NESS BIG SHOT ADJUSTABLE FUEL INJECTION TUNER. No adjustment's needed.
