Beware of new drivers
I say this due to my experience this evening with the newly licensed drivers.
Schools out, the weather is nice and the Punk A$$ snot nose "OMG" Brats are out driving around
in Daddy's Car.
Some real erratic **** out their. Tailgating, excessive speed, Cell Phones, Text messeges, frequent lane changes, and those "Watch me I'm Cool, I can make it" left turners."
Please be extra careful out there.
The warmweather has brought them out in Droves! [&:]
It was just plain Nuts out there tonight. whew!
Going out for a ride is one thing, Getting back home safe and sound is another.
How those AZ Temps? Getting toasty?
Lived there for 8 years, South Mountain Awatukee area. Been back here in Chitown for a few years. Aaaaahhh, Rain and greenery. Winters are a B!tch
I strongly believe in young teens being taught how to drive. In Italy we have a minimum age requirement of 18 years, while in the USA the minimum age is 16. Many political movements are trying to bring down the age for "assisted" driving (you can drive provided you have a person with at least 10 years of experience with you) to 16 years, and this is good, if done with some control.
I think that a lot of 16 yo, or even 18 yo, are NOT responsible enough to drive any kind of vehicle (or being left alone for any length of time, for what matters).
So, while responsibility is individual, and any teen should be offered the chance to prove himself worthy of the trust that driving a car implies, I believe that they shouldn't be given the benefit of doubt (or a second chance to hurt themselves or somebody else): first infraction, no matter how slight it may be, the licence is suspended till they are 21 and, we hope, more mature and prone to consider the consequences of their actions.
Unfortunately we live in a society that has come to the belief that driving a car is a natural, unalienable right. It ain't so. Or, at least, rights must always come with duties. Neglect your duties, and you forfeit your right. It's that simple. Weird how people and the whole juridical system seem not to grasp it.
Result? Well, her driving skills are better... but she still drives like a teenager: too fast, tailgates, etc. She got a ticket for 79 in a 55 last February. [:@]

A kid pulling over to pick up a friend cut me off just last week.
My front tire just missed hitting her rear bumper.
Sad part was we looked eyeball to eyeball just before she pulled in front of me.
your right back in 58 when i passed my test, first thing was get out there a drive, but dad said no you need more driving time with some one before you go solo. this pissed me off. about a year later he gave me his go to work car to go pick up my GF, and i hit a guy that ran a stop sign. Seeing dad catch a ride to work in the cold morning made realize to be more responsible to my Mon and dad and my self and every body around me.
