Ideas??
1) It hums cause it doesnt know the words.
2) Ive never heard a UFO so dont know what that sounds like.
But seriously... my Dyna makes a noise when I use the front brakes that Ive never been able to track down but I thought it was just the nature of the beast. Kind of a "ssssssssstttttt..." as Im applying the front brake. Its different from the brake pads squeeling.
I should say that I have never heard a ufo either....my buddys kid has a ufo toy and it makes that noise. The noise the bob makes seem to stop once i hit the brake.
thanks for anyhelp
J
If the noise stops when you put pressure on the front brake then its most likely the pad/s lightly rubbing on the rotor. It may stop once you have some miles on the brakes.
It is just the holes in the rotor passing through the break pads. Mine makes the sounds as well. If you are comming to a stop pull on and off the front brake and you should hear the nosie come as the padsadd pressure tothe rotor and then not be there when you let off. I dont think that this is anything to worrie about.I would describe the sound like as a light buzz but a UFO would work as well.
Yep, like Beman and JerseyDevil said, it is the holes in the rotor, my 2007 Lowrider has done it since day one.........if that is the noise you are describing, it is normal, just go out and ride the wheels off of it
Your rear brakes will probably start doing it soon too, mine do on my street bob , not when i use them, just at a certain speed (around 8to10 mph) usually parking lots and places with lots of people who stare at me because my bike is making a crazy UFO sound.
The pads are dragging, and the rotors have high and low spots , so the sound comes and goes rapidly at a high pitch squeal ( kind of a "modulating" sound)
it is very , very loud and you almost can't tell where it is coming from, the first month I owned it , Ispent wondering why I kepthearing that squeal. then I figured out it was me.
Just goes to prove what I've said all along............."If you don't have any crazy neighbors.......you are the crazy neighbor"!!!!
