If you plan on doing your own service work, take some of the money you save and purchase a service manual.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Here is what is scheduled for the 1000 service:
[ul][*]Replace engine oil and filter[*]Inspect brake lines for leaks[*]Inspect air cleaner[*]Tire pressure[*]Wheel spoke tightness[*]Replace primary lubricant[*]Replace transmission lubricant[*]Check clutch adjustment[*]Inspect rear belt and sprocket, adjust[*]Check, adjust, and lube throttle, brake and clutch cables[*]Check brake fluid level and condition[*]Inspect brake discs and pads[*]Inspect spark plugs[*]Check operation of electrical equipment[*]Check adjustment of engine idle speed[*]Adjust sterring head bearings[*]Check critical fastener tightness[*]Inspect and lubricate jiffy stand[*]Verify system and component functions during road test.[/ul]

and more work to be done on the 5,000 mile service you inquired about.&nbsp\\; None hard though.&nbsp\\; The schedule should be in your Owners Manual and How to do it in the Service manual.

Sorry, posted the info for 1000 and meant to offer 5000.&nbsp\\; The 5000 service is the same as I listed above except they do not list critical fastner check, steering head bearing adjustment, nor the critical fastner inspection.&nbsp\\; Everything else listed is done.

Hello no need for primary lubricant &amp\\; transmission lubricant change.But i did them just to put fresh oil in there.It's a very easy service.No need to pay all that money for something you can do yourself.I think it's about ÂŁ250 here in the UK about $500.
