puddle jumper, new isolator sat right into place. No shims. The old isolator was so far off it looked like it belonged on a different model.

shawn e, great pic. I would say yes there should be a gap so the engine can "float" instead of grounding out. I tried to get one as good as yours to compare. As you can barley see I have at least a 1/4" gap on my new one and you can see it floating when at idle.

I would call the isolator problem a manufacturing defect not a mechanical failure so Id assume there are quite a few Dyna owners that have this problem. Sadly, most people are just being told "hey its a Harley stupid, thats how its supposed to run".
