you have an 08 which is closed loop fuel injection so you shouldn't have any problem...running 89 in a stock bike should have no adverse affects.&nbsp\\; If you had a wild built engine then things could get ugly.&nbsp\\; I don't see any problem running 89 in it.

All the new bikes I have seen had a sticker on th R/H rearview mirror that says you have to run 91+ octane in the bike. You probobly haven't ruined anything but I personally would not do it again.

There is a trade-off however, at least with cars.

With the gas prices the way they are, I was thinking about going to mid-grade but the savings are minimal and others have commented on other threads that our bikes run better with the recommended high-octane fumes. I have a carb on my Dyna&nbsp\\;and&nbsp\\;I have not noticed any problems with mid-grade gas, but probably will just stick with the high-octane gas.

Sorry about this 3-part post, it was the only way I could get anything to post since I keep getting "Network Errors" for some reason. This sucks!

anyone try that octane booster additive?&nbsp\\; Just curious. I would never put it into my vehicle, but someday the gas companies&nbsp\\;may do away with super premium...... as lt just get too expensive. Once the environmentalists get us all driving cars&nbsp\\;using batteries the&nbsp\\;days of super premium will be over.

Just use the good stuff. Your bike will love you for it.

The older bikes with the&nbsp\\;smaller&nbsp\\;V-twins&nbsp\\;had a lower compression ratio&nbsp\\;which means you could get away with lower grade gas. Lower octane gas is more volitile meaning it will prematurely detonate under higher compression causing the "ping" or "knock". This isn't a good thing. The new 96 has a higher compression ratio so high test is needed. Higher octane gas is less volitile meaning it can withstand the higher compression, etc and yields optimum results.
&nbsp\\;
Either way, high test in both cases would improve things (including fuel mileage).
