I like the old style look of apes. I understand the drag bar thing, but my back doesn't anymore. I like the feel of the apes because I can sit up straighter and my back and shoulders don't bother me like they used to with the stock bars that my bike came with. I would just pick the bars that feel the best to you and enjoy the ride from then on.
actuall these are alot more comfy than my stockers. i'm more upright and yet i have a full extended arm reach.kinda hard to describe but way more comfy on the back.
jay.
They sure do look good and I also like the seat that you have. I think that the whole bike looks good. I think that it's great that people do their own thing and have fun in the process.
The instalation of my 16s will be finished on Monday. They may be a bit high but I'm commited to an old cc rider vibe with my BOB so I went with it. I'll let you guys know when I ride it on Monday.
Yep Drags on my 98 FXD , just putting on a pair of chubby drags 30.5 inch wide on 4.5 inch risers. Moved the speedo/taco onto the headlamp bracket . dl03 what make of pipes or those on your dyna
These guys don't realize that the drag bars don't work well with the FXD. I just put the 12" apes on mine and like the look. If I had my 1st choice it would've been the Arlen Ness Swing Back bars in the HD catalog, but mounting the speedo on there just didn't look right.
It depends on the bike and what "look" your looking for. I prefer the apes on my street bob, I knew I had to change the stock bars and I like the look of the drags, but the drags are "new" school, and the apes are "old" school. I like the apes better because I sit up straight. Believe it or not, they're very comfortable. But as earlier posted, be very careful because you can easily over do it.
