...What are all you Street Bob riders using to carry your "stuff"?
For a small trip, I carry a Tbag on my apes :
For long trips, I use my quick detach solo rack. It's a Harley rack that I modified with a 30 inches home made sissy bar.
On this rack I can put a very big bag !
RE: Where do I put my "\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;stuff"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;?
My mornings are just like yours, Dyna_Soar, although my ride is much shorter (only 30 miles round trip).
If theft isn't a concern for you then this post isn't really much help. There's your fair warning before reading further.
I've used my T-Bag (Route 66 model), but I prefer using my laptop backpack for security reasons. \\; Sometimes I have to make a stop before/after work. \\; With the laptop in a backpack, I can carry it with me when I leave my bike in the parking lot. \\; If you look at most motorcycle luggage, even the laziest thief can quickly get in and out with a small pocket knife.
Just something to think about.
For comfort, I loosen the shoulder straps enough so that the bag sits on the passenger seat behind me. \\; This way, the weight is off of my shoulders, and the bag isn't stuck to my back making me hot.
RE: Where do I put my "\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;stuff"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;?
I use the HD detachable luggage rack/short sissy bar combo. Takes 10 seconds to put on and five seconds to take off. With the solo seat on, it looks fine back there on the fender.
I have a solo seat and Motherwell rack. I have a carring case for my laptop that I just strap to the Motherwell rack with a cargo net. I do not have to take mine to work, but if I take it anywhere, this is how I do it.
As someone else said though, you may want to keep a close eye on it though if you go this way. I also have HD saddle bags that have a set of Barebacks quick release system and for long trips, thsi is where I put stuff.
Good luck.
I looked in to that suction cup idea \\;also. But the directions (and actually it makes sense) specifically say to not use it on flat paint, only the gloss paint jobs, beause it wont stick to the flat black used on the Street Bob.
I commute to work 52 miles one way. I highly recommend the motherwell if you want to keep the solo seat. I have made the commute for 2 years with my laptop in tow. I use an overnight bag to carry my supplies and strap it to the motherwell with 2 bungee chords. It is not going to blow off.

Go for it,
John
