if your into bags and windshields etc then maybe the world of the dyna is not for you and you should get a rk.. i would take one out for sure, IMO i would rather get my wanger slammed in a car door than swap my Street Bob for a RK,,, or indeed for anything else.....

If I had time for touring I might consider it but I don't.99% of my riding is to work and back, for my next bike I want something faster and better handling not slower and heavier.

If you're looking for a great handling and very comfortable bagger the Road King is the "King" of all baggers. From getting groceries, going to the local hangout to going 1000 miles a day. My next bike is going to be an FXR but the Road King takes a very close second.

I'm planning on getting a RK when i retire and hopefully keep the Dyna too. but if the finances aren't there I'll trade it in cuz all i will be doing is riding long haul by then.

I'VE OWNED DYNAS, RKS AND ULTRAS.&nbsp\\; THE ULTRA IS THE WAY TO TOUR. THE DYNA IS THE WAY TO HAVE FUN.

Round these parts the RK is THE bike...everybody has/wants one...actually thought about it myself for a short time...then i looked at my Bob and back at the King and thought "no way"...i guess if i toured more maybe, but i just like the combo of looks and agility the Dyna gives me.

maybe if you put air rides on your dyna, got the detachable hard bags from Corbin (they look real good), windshiel, detachable sissy bar, touring seat, and floor boards you would have a bike that was a RK with a dyna vin.......and with about an hour worth of work it could be a dyna again.....presto-chango!

The RK is a great, versatile bike. I was close to getting one when I got my Bob, but most of my miles come from my commute (~35 miles each way) and some day riding on the weekend. I figured it made sense to go with a bike whose engine had the same feel (not a fan of the Twin Cam B) but didn't have to carry as much weight. Nevertheless, the RK handles pretty well for its weight.

My main quibbles with the RK are the seat and the bars. Another poster mentioned the sensation of sitting on the bike rather than in it. That is a typical touring position. On the glides you at least have the sensation of sitting in the seat. With the RK, you are sitting on something that feels like someone mounted a section of barely-padded picnic bench lengthwise on the bike. The seat has got to go. It is a parody of a seat.

The situation with the bars is a little more complicated. If you have pulled the windshield off, then you probably will find the bars just about right because they put you in a forward lean against the wind. However, if you have the windshield on, then you might find that the stock RK can actually be a bit uncomfortable on a long haul unless you swap out the bars for some with a bit more pullback.
