installed a barnett heavy duty clutch with 6 plates.... clutch pull is very hard.... have adjusted pressure plate, and cable play.... also changed out throw out bearing and rod..... still no good..... gotta be hercules to pull the cluth lever in...........any adive would be great.....
I'm not sure what a 'heavy duty clutch plate' is, maybe you installed heavy duty springs
and the extra plate setup?? The 10 clutch springs will affect the pull and if you are using
the heavy duty ones, you'll want to carry an extra clutch release finger and the tools
to change it on the road because its likely to break eventually.
If that's not the issue, maybe the extra plate is causing too much preload on the springs.
I have an '84 FXRP (dry clutch) and tried the heavy duty springs and the Barnett friction disks,
broke a clutch finger and went back to stock springs and friction disks. I didn't think the
extra plate and stiffer springs were a benefit. Also, lube the clutch cable.
You didn't say what setup you are using so if its not an old style, 10 spring clutch setup,
disregard all of the above - except for lubing the cable.
try taking out the extra disc and plate..put the stocks springs back in it,give that a try,the extra disc and plate is putting to much preload on it,and the heavy duty springs are making even worse,a good setup with that kind of clutch is kevlar dics, aluminum pressure plate, and aluminum spring collar, stock springs, gives good adjustment and wont slip when you put good power on it.if the clutch felt like it was grabbing or wanted to pull while it was in gear, and you tryed to adjust it out with no luck, try a clutch tamer kit.
