I ride BMW's also and they all have hard luggage so I've been spoiled. I was considering some kind of hard luggage for my FXDX but couldn't find any that I really liked. (This was three years ago though) I settled on Boss Bags. They are both lockable and quick release removable. They are like some of Harley's bags, leather covered, semi-rigid plastic case. They are considered expensive at something like $700 but I've been numbed by BMW accessory prices. As far as a recommendation, if I were buying a new Dyna I'd do these bags again.
Here's a better picture as was leaving for Colorado. As you can see, the straps have enough length to allow something like a rolled Thermarest or sleeping bag to be secured on top of the bag. This also makes it level with the fender rack.
Saddlemen Item Number 3501-0232. I'm very pleased. Hard plastic bucket, vinyl outside, looks like leather to me.
.
i like your bags i am wondering how much do they cover the shock and i am trying to decide between saddlemen and boss bags, any suggestions please let me know the name of these bags if you can, i would appreciate any addtional photos as well. btw i have a dyna fatbob
I my opinion, Hard bags on a Dyna, Softtail or Sportster makes the bike look like a metric bike. \\; If you want to get them, that fine, but they only look good on a touring bike. \\; But again, that's just one persons opinion.
I would have to STRONGLY disagree with your assessment. Before you say I should have bought an Ultra, my Wide Glide has more leg room than any Ultra or Street Glide I have ever been on.
Besides I have the bike I wanted not the one that Harley Davidson said I should want. I think she looks pretty good sitting still or going down the road.
Just my $.02
