Forward controls on 06 FXDLI
I'm thinking of forward controls on my 06 Dyna and was wondering...once the stock mid pegs come off, there will be a now un-needed \\;clearance cut in the front pipe heat shield. I'm thinking it's gonna look a bit odd. Does HD have a replacement shield to fit without the clearance cut? Didn't find anything listed in catalog so just thought I'd ask to see how or if anyone has dealt with this before. Thanks.

Hi, I had the forward controls fitted at HD before I picked up the bike, to be honest I never thought about it until \\;I read you posting, you can see in the pic \\;I have attached that you can see the cut out but you would have to look for it, it does not stand out, \\; I am sure I would have noticed before now if it did,

What \\;you need is the front heat shield off an 06 or later Wide Glide. \\; Because the FXDWGI \\;comes from the MoCo with forwards, their heat does not have the cut-out.

The part number is 65966-06. \\; I believe they run $52.00 at the dealer. \\; I would ask around here as I imagine you can find a cheap take-off from another member.

wait till it cracks where it notched out then get a wide glide shield like it was suggested.luckily mine cracked while under 2 yr warranty and had it replaced with the wg one
The Wide Glide heat shield is the correct answer.
