Default 30 lbs in 180 tire

'Cause I'm height challenged I've done everything to get my Bob down so I can flat foot it: 11" 412 shocks, progressive front lowering kit, lower seat and big heels on my boots. Rough roads are killin' me and I looked into air shocks, 440s, etc and thought, since my 180 rear is hard as a rock I'd take it down from 35 psi to 30 psi. I'm only 135 lbs and always ride solo. Don't know if it's my imagination but it seems to ride a little softer. I did a search to see if this has been addressed and didn't find anything. What, if any, are the ramifications, problems, possible damage?

I would go to the tire maker web site and check recommended pressures. Running a tire low pressure can create some heat problems and excessive wear.

it should ride softer... I can feel the difference with my bike when I go from 35-39 for 2 up rides... I often forget to decrease the pressure on my next solo ride.... I personally think that one exact air pressure can not possibly be right for all people from 95-350lbs.

As for ramifications...well... does my gauge read exactly right... is it the same at all heights above sea level... and does it match every other gauge out there... doubt it.... but I do use it to measure my tire pressure.. may be off by 2-5 psi (don't really know).... Have not had a tire problem ever and have tons of tread left even after 7800 miles...

If I were you and you like 30psi then try out 31,32 maybe adding a couple psi will be just as comfortable and you will be only a couple pounds softer than the recommended 35... then again maybe your gauge reads a few psi too high and you will be exactly at 35.

Yes because you are using the flex in the tire as part of your suspension. I've had the same issue about psi. I only weigh 160, does the 36psi for the rear apply to me as well as someone that weighs 280. Hell , I'm 280 riding two up. To sum it up, sounds like you have done it all besides turn it into a rigid and it would really beat the hell out of you then.
