The only thing that would give me pause is what your support situation is. Harley dealers are open almost every day\\; they sell bikes all year 'round and even though people whine about parts counters and service departments you can get parts and service pretty easily no matter what part of the country you're in. Just before I bought my Dyna I was trying to buy a Triumph. I had cash in hand, but the dealership closest to me was selling snowmobiles and didn't want to talk bikes for a couple of months. The next closest dealership was only open three days a week and never in the evenings. I had to drive past a big Harley dealership to get there, and suddenly the light dawned....
 \\;
I still love Triumphs. And I have to admit Ducatis are pretty attractive. But I've gotten soft and don't want to sit out the few nice riding days there are in New England waiting on obscure parts that have to come halfway around the planet.
that's just it. there are those that ride Harley's, and then there are those that ride harley's, thanks for stopping by..
And there are those that need a 700 pound steel shlong to ride around on to prove something.
 \\;
I decided after a long holiday ride today that I will keep my dyna. \\;Alot of it was financial, but I need comfort with my performance!
i got nothin to prove to nobody, and I don't care what ya ride, you bought it. You just gotta be realistic, this is the H-D forum, cause well some of us like H-D's. So you are gonna just have to suck it up and expect alittle flack.

Fair enough. \\; Honest question\\; would you prefer a S&\\;S motor and baker transmision in your bike, or all HD? Not trying to prove a point here, just want to see where you are coming from.
I have a Suzuki SV650 and Yamaha XS650 in addition to the Dyna. Neither takes the place of the other - completely different bikes for different purposes. I like my Street Bob best 'cause it has a soul and a ride that can't be explained. But when I'm looking for twisty thrills, nothing takes the place of the SV, no offense to my favored child, but the SV eats my Bob for lunch in the twisties (ground clearence, weight, wheel base - factors loyalty to a brand can't overcome ). The XS is just an old, vintage putter that offers another sort of pleasure. Who cares what you ride - pick what you like (both?) and screw whatever anyone else says. Geesh.

I'm not worried about what others will think of me. \\;I just want good advice about things like ride position, speed, suspension, trade in value etc. from those who have been there before. \\; I do however feel that HD has no loyalty to it's customers, so to give them your loyalty makes you thier beotch.

How is the front end on your sv650? \\; I heard they are mushy, but can be swapped out for the gsxr forks.
