Screaming Eagle Slip On
Got the Cali bike, if I get these pipes and the bike is all stock, will there be a need to re map??? The HD big book manly says for stock bike. Will there be any benefit to this pipe?? Loudness, less back pressure, slight performance gains?  \\;etc.
I had a set of the "new"(quieter) SE mufflers on my SB.To answer your questions, no, a remap is not necessary as long as you leave the stock air filter assembly in place. These mufflers are slightly throatier than the stock mufflers, but not at all loud.This was after I removed the fiberglass packing from the SE's...they were as quiet as stock before I did that.
 \\;
Regarding performance gains, I swapped from the stock mufflers the day I got my bike, so I can't say for sure if there was any real difference. Harley says there is, but I'm not a big believer in marketing hype. The bike felt a tad torquier, but that may have been wishful thinking on my part after spending $300 for new mufflers.
 \\;
While I didn't want an obnoxiously loud bike, I wanted a little more "Harley" sound than the SE's gave, so I sold my SE's to a fellow HDF member, and installed a set of Rush slip-ons with 1.75" baffles. The Rush mufflers also don't require a remap with a stock air cleaner, and have the exact sound I wanted. \\;The bike now sounds like a Harley should without scaring children or annoying the neighbors too much.
 \\;
The SE's are very well made, as are the Rush's. \\;The bottom line is that choosing between the two \\;depends on what you want sound-wise. \\;

Thanks for your input! Now I wonder if a map need be done on any slip on if I leave the bike stock, with stock AC or, only a slip on with the kitties need not be maped. Will the O2 sensor freak with a slip on without the cats and stock AC?
