Default wow what's wrong?

&nbsp\\;I started hearing this chirping kinda squeek while riding recently,and couldn't find what it was - unitil last night when I looked again to find my rear brake pads are wearing really thin!Perhaps 1/16th " of material left. So is this normal after 5000 miles? and howmuch are they ,and can I change them out myself?&nbsp\\; The front pads are fine - all 4, and o yeah are they covered under warranty?

Do you use rear brake the majority of the time?&nbsp\\; (I hope not)&nbsp\\; Is your caliper sticking?&nbsp\\; Do you keep your foot on the rear brake pedal?
&nbsp\\;
Warranty probably will not cover it if it is deemed normal wear.&nbsp\\; They should&nbsp\\;cover it if there is a problem with the brake system which prompted premature wear.
&nbsp\\;
My second set of front pads were done after less than 5000 miles.&nbsp\\; I use my front brake 80% of the time, but they should have lasted longer.&nbsp\\; When I replaced them, I flushed the fluid and pulled down the calipers.&nbsp\\; I could not find anything obvious which contributed to this such as the caliper pistons sticking.

Thats a little early my stock brakes (rear) went out at 10 grand. I thot that was a little pre mature but dealer says no. Next time im going with Lindale pads, cost is at least comparable to dealer and they are sposed to be dustless and last around 18 grand. You can beat dealer price by a big chunk just by going aftermarket and doing them yourself, brsked and install was around 100 bucks if I remember right, do it myself (next time) for probly 30 or so

They are probably NOT covered. My guess is that they would fall under a "normal wear" item,like motor oil. But I could be wrong, so ask the dealer any way.

I've got 5k on my bob&nbsp\\;and the rear pads are still good. It probably is normal wear if you use your rear brake mor than the front.

Seems like abnormally fast wear to me, but maybe you brake differently than I do.
Do you do a lot of city riding?
My 04 1200R still had the original pads on it, front and rear with 22,000 miles when I traded it in.
I know the Fat Bob is a heavier bike than the Sportster, but you wouldn't think there would that much difference..

NO not covered on warnt... yes very easy to do... be sure you get some high temp pad grease, and i would recomend lyndall Golds.... be sure you have a set of small metric wrenches to pull out the 2 caliper pins

Speacking of the caliper pins, are they 7mm? It seems my 7mm might slip off and strip them.

Does anyone know for sure if they are 7mm?

Thanks!
