The answer is no,the bikes run hot because they are all running lean,I have a 07 FXDL,and i bought a pc3 from fuelmoto man already maped put it on my bike along with ness big sucker AC, and cycle shack slip on pipes, and it runs 20 degree cooler and thats no BS,So if you want the pipes to quit popping and cracking when you shut the engine off,get a pc3 from fuel moto and have him map it.
They don't have an oil cooler. \\; Typically, though, you'd see an oil cooler mounted to the front of the frame if a bike has one. \\; Before you invest in an oil cooler, invest in a stage 1 upgrade. \\; Not only should the bike run cooler, it should run better.
I installed an XIED on my 07 FXDLI. \\; Runs cooler and smoother on the low end. \\; Easy to install and decent price.

\\;My bike has come with a big black Heat sink looking appuratus mounted on the front frame just below what I think is the oil filter, could this be a oil cooler???

Nigel, haha, give it up, you don't have an oil cooler if you bought a stock bike. \\; There are several different styles but the ones I have seen are tubular and mount to the frame above that "heat sink apparatus" you speak of.
heat is caused by the lean AFR mixture that HD uses to meet EPS standards. \\; do a Stage 1 and richen up the mixture with a fuel management device (SERT, Pro Tuner, PC III, etc.)
