Dual disc dyna
Did you try to use the stock damper tube? Are the top seal diameters the same, if so, can you just open up the bottom hole in the housing to accept the stock damper tube.

There is always more than one way to skin this cat, as others have proven. I did it with the V-rod lowers, so I can't really comment on the Fat Bob solution. I'll try to answer what I can.
Thanks for the compliments!
Crazy03 did this conversion with Fat Bob legs. I have no idea what is required for the forks internally, but he could probably tell you. Some machining is required whichever way you go. Link is here:

I would have prefered to use the stock dampers, it would have eliminated the necessity of machining the slug. The area where the oil lock sits inside the lower leg of the V-rod is smaller in diameter than the Dyna leg. It is a countersink into inside of the leg, for lack of a better term. If you could rig a fixture to reach down there to enlarge this area, I would assume you could use the stock damper tube and oil lock. You would also have to drill out the hole through the bottom for the screw.
I talked to mudpuddle on the phone yesterday. He is preparing to do this swap and will document it here. Should be a great write-up with lots of pics, as all of mud's posts are.
Can the dual disc conversion be done with "Fat Bob" lower legs (2009 Dyna Custom conversion), I have read that there are issues with the "Fat Bob" lower legs when used with the mid-glide trees. Can anyone identify what the issues are as I would prefer to use the "Fat Bob" lower legs in my conversion.
This is a GREAT thread and thanks to all that have made it possible.

Excellent write-up! My question is wouldnt it be possible to get FB forks and do it?? Maybe they're different somehow, or not available...

Great post. I have the cast wheels on my 2007 FXD, and wouldn't want to switch to lace wheels (don't like tubes).
Is there a HD cast wheel from an earlier model which will work with twin rotors?
I have been thinking of just using a single 6 piston caliper off a modern sport bike with a Brembo rotor. Would also be less unsprung weight. Will probably cost more (unless I had to buy new wheels for a twin rotor setup).
