Hi,about the barebacks, when i line up the front and rear male bareback on the bike
the front are about 3 mm more outwards than the rear.Have followed the instructions
from cyclevision and mount the spacer on the rear males.
Have now tried to shim the rear female bareback with washers 3mm between the bag
and bareback.Whas thinking the steel plate support on the bags are bent because when i tightend the female bareback it will not fit at all.
I like the looks of the barebacks but i mounted a set of easy brackets on my wifes bike and
this was a "direct fit" to the bike.Maybe i should bought these myself to.
But is any of you with barebacks who need to shim with washers between the bag and
the rear female bareback ??
I have the barebacks system and I did use a washer to get the correct alignment. I did some research on them and it all depends on what the back of the bags is like. On mine the mounting holes are not on the same plan, so I needed to shim up the barebacks with a washer to get them to aling correctly. It does take some time to get the alignment correct, but once I got it, it is easly 10 seconds on and off. They are machined with tight tollerances so a good alingment is required. But once you get it, they are great in my opinion.
I (or should say hubby) put Easy Brackets on mine. They went on fairly easily, but then he had to modify the setup when I put 1" lowering blocks on which made the bags rub against the shocks. Doesn't look beautiful, but it works. I know, I know - bikes look better without bags. (And windshields too) Agreed. But I need storage when we go on longer trips especially.
Anyway, the Easy Brackets were a lot easier to deal with than Ghost Brackets, which hubby had had on a previous bike of his.
But Benwiggin, back to your original post - NICE LOOKING!!
man you got it goin on with those bags. all stealth too. lookin sharp. i like the look, and they'll surely be practical when going on a trip too. nice job.
