i use a drinking glass cleaner you know the one with all of those little foam fingers on them get it at the dollar store works great just dip it in the bucket of water that you use to wash the bike

I use a 2 foot piece of nylon cord soaked in soapy water. Run a loop around the spoke and pull it back and forth so the cord is twisting about 450 degrees around the spoke. It rides up and down and cleans the hell out of them.
