Please help!!
I dropped my bike off in JUNE to get the jugs replaced, and a set of roller rockers installed. When I got it back two weeks ago, it ran good but rattled like h3ll. so I took it back, and they told me it was the lifters. So I replaced those. Then they said it was the roller rockers, so I changed back to stock... still no improvement. The bike has good oil pressure, and the top end is receiving plenty of oil. the screwdriver to the ear method shows the noise is coming from the front cylinder head. on the exhaust side. I have checked for exhaust leaks, there are none. The exhaust valve was replaced today (piston was in backwards). and after re-assembly it still has the exact same noise! I do not think it is spark knock, I retarded the timing on the front cylinder to the point where it was misfiring and it still makes the noise. it is a metallic knocking sound that starts at 2000 rpm and gets louder as you rev it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I agree with Mud, I'd be looking at rocker cover or the rocker housing to make sure you have enough clearance. IF all you did was replace the jugs, & no head work, larger valves, cams, etc., you shouldn't be having any issues & you shouldn't have needed roller rockers either. Also check that the push rod isn't hitting the inside of the push rod tube/cover.
Who put your motor together? If not you, then they should be responsible for the quality of build & fix the problem free of charge.
You ought to post this in the Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust section, you might get more responses.

clearanced the crap out of the upper and lower boxes. (that was my first thought) wasn't making the noise until the work was done. I started working on it myself because the shop said they were too busy to look at it, and I would end up getting a bike that was not fixed a week later. (went that route twice). I am thinking perhaps a valvespring or valve guide may be bad. would that make a noise?
not that either. no contact on pushrods. (i painted the ends, and installed them all the paint was still there.) I am gonna tear it back down this weekend. pull both heads back off and try to figure this out. I appreciate the input. I am gonna call it quits for tonight. I am pissed-off, tired and sick of burning my hands. If y'all think of anything else, lemme know. It might save me some work. BTW, the cams are kury 4g's that have been in the bike since i bought it.
