I just don't understand why so many are not wearing any eye protection. I had to do that once becuase I lost mine on a trip, and it was not fun.
rds1778 thanks for that info, my son is in the Corps and wants a crotch rocket, (hey, I raised him right in everything else) think I will send that to him.
I moved from a helmet required state, Mich, back in January, to a no helmet required state, Ohio. While there are more riders here, the one thing that stands out is that back in Michigan it seemed like a fair number of those in bike wrecks were not fatalities while here it seems I rarely hear of a survivor when a bike is wrecked.
Someone told me when I moved here that this area has the 2nd highest concentration of motorcyles in the country, 3rd in the world. Seems the Milwaukee area was #1, and the #2 was in Europe, can't remember the name.
I think the biggest lesson to be learned from those stats is that with training, and paying attention most accidents could be prevented. Not wearing eye protection seems to be a big cause of accidents, however whether someone is wearing a helmet or not has no bearing on cause. So lets not start the helmet debate, to each his own, this use to be a free country, it should be the riders choice, period.
I cant understand how anyone sees with out eye protection. I used to wear sunglasses but never found any that protected my eyes from the wind completley so they would tear up and impair my vision. Now I wear googles because they give me more protection and definatley wear a helmet cause it saved my life recently and I owe it to my childrent to stay alive. But I do agree with the above post lets not start the helmet debate, to each his own, this use to be a free country, it should be the riders choice, period.
