Fat Bob VS. Nite Train
just currios to hear owners opinions on both these bikes.Ive narrowed it down to these 2.Opinions on rider confort, suspension, and which would be a better motor build, arnt these 2 motors slightly diff. as far as gearing internally? ...................................which one would be more BADASS! STING
Im running an 08 fat bob, 2500 miles since June, all I can say is I love it. My only criticism to this point on it is the drag bars, kind of hard on my back after a six hour ride up north where im at to Nebraska. Other than that this bike rides and handles like glass, and I was a previous 1200 sportster owner and prefer the weight of this bike more in the wind now, and just the overall power of the bike. Eventually I plan to hopefully put on some mini-apes down the road, just have to save the money for that right now.
There isn't anything I really dislike about this bike. It has the styling that I was after and the ease of handling. I am riding from Austin, Texas area to Lincoln, Nebraska at the end of September.......have no doubt that it will be a great ride on my '08 Fat Bob, will be about 2,000 mile trip the route that I am taking. I think overall Dyna's are great riding bikes............I had a '99 Super Glide that I rode to Sturgis numerous times, it was a 1500 mile round trip.
I've never riden a soft tail yet, but I can't image any softy slicing through the twistys like the FXDF!
I too had a 12 XL set up for solo riding with forward controlls and passanger pegs. Through the twistys I'd ride on the passanger pegs with my croutch slide up to the butt of the tank, elbows slightly bent - leaning forward over the tank.
My Fat Bob has the forward controlls, but I've added mid foot pegs that I keep folded up unless I'm on the highway.
I was out today for a 300 mile ride and found myself carving up the twistys... feet on the mid pegs, my croutch slide up to the butt of the tank, elbows slightly bent and laying that 700 pound machine, at what felt like 45 degree angles through the turns.
For my type of riding the 130mm front tire, the dual disk front brakes and drag bars make the Fat Bob a top pick for me.
P.S. the Fat Bob comes already "BADASS".

I would ask myself what I want with the bike... If you want to rebuild and customize the bike, go for the Softtail (I would if I was to buy one today).
If you don´t care for radical customization in the future go for the Dyna.
PS. By the way, here in Europe the price differance between a Street Bob - Night Train is 6000$. For me that was an easy choise.

I like them both. I chose the Fat Bob purely because you get a lot of bike for your money. I test rode a Nite Train and liked it a lot but the Fat Bob handled better and the engine was smoother above 40 mph. The Nite Train was more comfortable but for me the Fat Bob was the better choice. They are both fine machines and I would happily own either.
