Question Fuel Mngmnt

I went to my local HD shop and asked about the Screaming Eagle race tuner compared to V&H and others. I was told by the service dept that all I would gain would be better throttle responce and 5 more hp and torque. Why would I do this for $725? That includes the SE and dyno. I dont have popping on decel or lag in throttle responce. Is the service guy correct?

Just my 2 cents....

I have had both and here is my experience....

The SERT is very expensive but it WORKS and everything is right on and very smooth.

The V&H Fuel Pack also works and is very inexpensive but seems to run not so smooth at low speeds with some decel and shift popping.

They both seem to add the same amount power both HP and TQ assuming all is equel meaning exhaust and intake have been opened up.

Since I have no personal experience with the SERT can't say anything about that, but I do have the fuelpak and NA7A is right, it relieved about 98% of my decel popping and the bike does run cooler, or so it seems. I am glad I installed it. It did what I was hoping it would do, and it took all of about 30 minutes to install and program.

i have the pcIII and love it easy to tune your self but with a dyno and someone that knows what they are doing you will get even better performance. its about $250-300. Dont know about the SERT or the V&H fuel pack though.

I have the stage 1 and V&H staggered short shots. I dont get alot of popping on decel and throttle response is ok. It doesnt run hot so I am wondering why I should do the download and dyno. With the SE race tuner all they do is plug in and put on dyno. You would think for $350 they would download for free if you have it dyno tuned...............

Don't look at it as the device itself giving you the extra power. I guess that may be possible by adding a SERT only and the dyno tuning. What will really make a noticeable difference (and I'm talking seat of the pants, not dyno chart necessarily) is a full stage 1 upgrade which means a higher flowing a/c and higher flowing pipes. The "device" is a necessary part on a EFI bike to offset the lack of fuel now that you are pumping more air through. It will make the bike breathe better, run better, and basically unlock the extra power that is already there but being held back by EPA regulated restrictive parts. I don't know what mine gave me and don't really care as long as it feels good to me, and it does. I immediately noticed better throttle response and acceleration and it also runs a bit cooler.

By the way, this is not a recommendation, but FYI - I have the fuelpak I bought for about $200 bucks and installed that and the a/c myself - no dyno tuning.

Good post 2007fxdc, I am with you on the no dyno tune, personally I can't justify a dyno tune for a street bike, but that's just me. I am very happy with Stage 1 and FuelPak. She flies as fast as I care to go.
