To save some $$ over the Storz, I used one listed in CC (approx $170 from CC) from a discount dealer online for approx $130. Works great. Also use the same one on a Harley dragbike.
hey blacktop I'm going to install a 5" autometer tach on my bike.
did you make the bracket for it or did you by it. by the way whats the
name of the discount dealer. thanks in advance.
The Storz dampener is pricey, but top notch. It's a 16 click adjustment...so lots of adjustment to play with. The Storz unit is milled out of billet just for the new Dynas. As for Supension, my bike is already tweaked in that department. All Works up front and progressive 440's out back. I also run a fork brace up front. IMO the progressive springs for the forks are junk. Only good for lowering, the 440's though are good shocks. This bike corners like a ****. Only thing left in the chassis/suspension/handling department I want to do is go with a TruTrac setup or the Sputhe set up.
As for wondering why the dampener? Push one o' these hard enough and you'll figure it out. I've been putting this style of Dynas together for several years and although they are the best handling Harleys, they still need tweaking to reach their full potential. But, I absolutely am fanatical about high performance, well handling Dynas!!!
+1 on the 440's and works performance front(I have same, and now with Metz 880's my bike is finally starting to handle like it should. I've had steering dampers on sport bikes never thought to put one on the Dyna.
