GPS Mount help
Anyone, did anyone out there ever make a mount/ bracket for a GPS system and a 12v lighter socket. I know HD has the system in the big book, just looking for some home brew ideas

What kinda bike? What kinda of GPS?
I made a mount useing RAM hardware and used an SAE plug and wire extension as a quick disconnect from the battery charger accessory.
If you follow the cable down, you should be able to make out the SAE connector

I made one for 3 dollars... you can do a search or PM me and i can find it tomorrow... i am on my phone right now and can not locate it... 3g is fast but not that fast... if you get on Ebay man they are only 20 bucks... in all honesty it is a good set up! I think i may actually get one, they are nice

ok... so here is how i did mine... got some angle brackets from lowes, bent them to match, drilled a hole in the angle to match the size of the center bolt for my windshield, then I put Rubber adhesive on the bracket to keep it from making noise and/or scratching anything, from there, i cut the back of the stock TOM TOM mount off and used heavy duty hook loop velcro, put that on the bracket, and on the back of the support, put it all together... i have hard lined in a wire up to the front of the bike to run my stereo, i just ran a splitter on that with quick conect plugs soldered on from radio shack, the whole deal, stereo and all just unplugs in a matter of moments... some of you may wonder about the hook loop velcro, but it is some tuff stuff! will nto let that GPS go anywhere! here are some pics... just clean

+1 Ram mount here, ran power from the battery to the aux light switch on the back of the front fork nacell. Bought a hard-wire Garmin power cable with the electronics to drop 12 volts to 5 volts and a mini-usb plug for the Garmin. Ran that from the nacell up around the bars and to the mount. If I don't use the Garmin I can remove most of the mount and tuck the power cable into my fork bag on top of my bars.

Bought the first RAM mount and bracket for about $85. Bought the second for my XM radio on Amazon.com for $30. Live and learn. RAM mounts are great, they really do the job.
