I got my slip ons installed, they look great. I was hoping they would be louder than the stock mufflers but, they're not. They sound better than the stock. It now has a deeper rumble which I love, but I still need louder. Will the download help with loudness?
I'll try to get some pic. this weekend, I think she looks awesome w/ the black slipons.
Sorry, I can't help ya with part numbers. I told the dealer to put slash-downs on mine as part of the deal when I bought it, so no idea what p/n they used. In any case, I just assumed that ALL of the SEs would be louder than stock.
You can always change out the baffles for something louder, but that may not be cost effective for ya in the long run. Before doing that, you might as well just consider V&H or something similar. Again, more $$ involved, but happiness is key.
part #80313-99. I'm thinking I don't know what I'm doing and I bought the wrong ones. Either way I really happy with how they look.
You bought the wrong pipes unless street legal is what you're after. You should have gotten either 80258-99A (chrome) or 80331-99A (black) which are the Screamin' Eagle Pro II pipes. They are much louder than stock pipes and offer better performance as well. They are not street legal however.
If you get the 80258-99A or 80331-99A pipes and the 29440-99C air cleaner then you will have what is considered the Stage 1 setup. You'd want a download or SERT along with that setup however.
I saw a couple of guys on this post have Street Bobs. I am in the process of selling my Sportster and am looking at the Street Bob. I plan on forward controls and possibly Screaming Eagle mufflers. Hd-sob, how do you like your Street Bob and the Screaming Eagles? Also what all is involved in doing a stage 1 on the Street Bob?

Coincidentally, I went from Sporty ('02 XL1200C) to Street Bob also. Since I've only had the Dyna a short time (300 miles), I am really still getting to know it. One thing is for certain - as much as I loved the Sporty, it was NEVER going to be a TC88. Night and day difference, as far as I'm concerned. Others will have different opinions, as I found out when I once used the term 'upgrade' in another post. Although the XL had forward controls and I loved them, I opted to go without them on the Dyna, for the time being, due to the labor cost involved with the '06 installation procedure. That having been said, it has been demonstrated here, by some riders (RonnR, for example) that the '05 forward controls kit will actually work on the '06 with much less installation effort involved. In terms of pipes, the Sporty came with SEII slip-ons and they were fine, but I wanted V&H so I swapped them out. I was happy with the V&H but again, opted out with the Dyna as a cost-saving measure. I am perfectly happy with the SEIIs that are on it now. Regarding the Stage 1 process, PowerCobra98's post above (second paragraph) describes it simply. 'Paying the taxes', as it is also known, is pretty much a given on a new Harley.

Don't feel bad, hogrida. I made the exact same mistake. After about 1,000 miles I replaced the Harley slashdown slipons with some used SEII's I found on ebay. Big difference. Noticably louder and deeper.
