Default Dogbone risers? 14" apes?

I'm planning on putting 14" apes on my 08 Street Bob but due to the integrated risers my choice looks very limited as most of the better ones aren't 1" diameter. I'm wondering about using the stock 10" mini-apes with 4" dogbone risers and how stable / strong that will be. My local dealer has advised against it but I'd like other opinions. Anyone here have experience with them?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for a 14" ape that will fit the existing riser I'd like to hear about that too.

Man i canT believe somone has not came out with riser extensions for the 08 bobs... I am working on a protype, lol, on paper that is. All you need is 2 chunks of aluminum, have a male half circle on one side, a femal half circle on the other side. Drill 4 holes that would allow for longer bolts to mount in the intergrated riser. Boom you have an extension of an inch or two. Make that in the exact same shape as your intergreated risers and you would hardly be able to tell you had extension in there.

Anyone else know what i am talking about, currently working on a ms paint drawing of these as i speak! Will try and post it up later so you can visually see what i can see!

Oh yeah... Jbphoto... Sorry to hijack your thread here. But i think this way would look better than dog bones, and possibly cheaper!

I know i have been wanting to add a few inches to my stock bar height as well. But dog bones would give your bike a more nostalgic look!

chubby now has a 14" ape..and Nash gimps also available in 14"
I think most 1 1/4" bars are 1" through the riser area.

Maybe some bullet holes all the way thru the side, in the center. Could maybe even insert transparent colored plastic plugs in the bullet holes if you wanted... Just a thought.

But i think this would be a great product and would have no doubt it would handle any kind of abuse you throw at it.
