Forgot to mention that the new 2008 superglide is a plain ol fxd model.....motor, 2 wheels, gas tank, gas cap, and a speedometer....Can clean it in about 5 minutes ! Which is something that i kinda like about it....Handles kinda like my old 1200 sporty handled, but certainly has alot more weight and power, and alot more confortable at 70mph cruisin down the highway.....Bike has a very nice sweet spot at around 74-75 mph.....Seems to really like it there in 6th gear.
Hello Congrats on your new Superglide. I too just picked up a Superglide 2009. My first Harley. I'm lovin it. I'm still on my breakin period only about 350 miles so far.
Congrats on a great machine. I also just picked up an 08 FXDC ( dark blue pearl ) and absolutely love it. Well done on the self service. I need to find a service manual as well.
Hello just done my 10'000 mile service. On my 2008 SUPER GLIDE CUSTOM.Had the 1000 and 5000 done by the shop. But will be doing all my own now.
Just got back from a 5000 mile trip round Europe.Got to a hight of 2760 meters in the alps. Bike never missed a beat the all trip.Looking at doing route 66 next year can anyone recomend the best months to do it in planning on taking 2 weeks to do it.
Thanks
I just got my FXD at the end of May and I couldn't be more pleased. I sold my 98 sportster and used that for down payment. The only thing I don't like is the single spedometer sitting out in the open collecting bugs after a day of riding, ha.
I did the detachable sideplates and sissybar myself and had the dealer do the forward controls. I got Rush slip-ons actually on their way as we speak. The SE a/c will be installed the same time as the Rush slip-ons and getting tuned.
The Spedo-to-Dakota-Digital is my next project. Although, I think I'll have the dealer do that as well. There's just some things I won't tackle myself
Congrats on everyone getting their new 08's! Oh, yeah, I was cruising down the highway not even noticing I was cruising from 65-80. I passed a car you really shouldn't fly by yesterday thinking "oh crap, he didn't even notice". Gotta be careful. (I'd post a picture but I can't seem to shrink down my pics far enough, still figuring it out).
