Really... Why does it not work? Is the decal to close to the rounded shape of the tear drop or something? I have the stage 1 kit with a k&n. I need 5.5 inches to cover the top of the air cleaner. Or are the sizes of the a/c cover decals different for the 08's???

If you have the TEARDROP shaped cover
they do not work.

reason - redesigned profile.

I don't get the part you say about the rubber tubing.
Well, once it was mounted I had about an 1/8" gap between the cover and the filter. It really didn't look very good so I thought of what I could mount in between there to fill it. Turns out a rubber coupling I had in the garage was the exact same diameter, So I trimmed an 1/8' off of it and mounted it between the filter and the cover.

Not sure why I had the gap, maybe it's the V&H filter? Or could it be the '08 cover? Not sure

It's gotta do with the way the teardrop is contoured...on the 07, the contouring is round all the way around like the decal...on the 08, the contour follows the shape of the decal on the right side of the decal, but breaks off towards the rear of the A/C cleaner on the left side of the decal. I'm not explaining it really well, but take a close look and you'll see what I mean.

it has to do with the fact that the insert is much smaller in diameter,

and, even if you did cut it out,

when mounted, the outer perimeter would not be anywhere
near the surface of the a/c, and look like crapola.

I was thinking about doing something similar. Will that round sticker thing fit a round aircleaner cover? What about getting caught in the rain?
