I don't know about the mustang seat, I went with the HD replacement seat the "Reach" I have close to 10k on it and it is still not broken in.

I had a mustang vintage on my sportster for like 6k miles and it was hardly broken in. Sat too hard, flat and high for me so I got rid of it.

+1.
I had the Mustang Vintage for less than 200 miles last fall. Too hard and way too high.
It's pretty highly regarded here, but did not work for me

I'm being patient with mine , it is slowly breaking in ...I hated it when I first tried it .It felt like I was 2" higher and 1" further forward....Since adding Highway pegs I think Im putting a bit more pressure on it ,I feel like it is starting to break in. But I also picked up a solo off of an 08 street bob and I put that on every now and then for short rides...I actually prefer the position of the Bob solo. I hope the Mustang sits down a bit over time..I love the Look .

I have about 2000 miles on mine, and it is feeling great, even has a couple "dimples" where the cahones sit....

Little dimples for your nuts? I would be ashamed.

I had one on my Sporty and it did feel kinda hard at first but I got used to it quick and it was the best long distance seat I've ever had.

Don't know mustangs but if they are anything like Corbin they start like a rock and end up like a brick. Actually does help over the long hall.

Once you've achieved the break in period what sort of maintenance is required

Default Mustang Seat

They are just a firmer seat than the Harley seats. The are much more comfortable over long distances. Mine never did break in much, I didn't use it except for long rides, but it is still much more comfortable than stock. Only maintenance I ever did was with Armor-all.
