So I have this problem , should be a easy fix , but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem an if they did something else. My headlight pop-rivets that hold the lamp to the mounting bracket have come loose , probably due to me trying to move / adjust the light to which I think is a total piece of junk to begin with , low beams work ok , high beams totally suck no matter what ya do . Anyway back to the pop rivets , should I re pop revit them or I was thinking stainless steel nut an bolt ?
Yep that might be my next recourse as it is under warranty , I just hate going there , last time I was there I had to do their p.r work to get stuff done to my bike , so thus wanting to do it myself . Ok Im done venting [:@]
mine did the same thing rivits came lose vibrates like hell dealer orderd me another one its been three weeks still not in. cheeply made to me . my buds 2005 is ruber mounted insted of rivits .they look just like them 19.95$ ones in the jc witny .but atleast the dealer orderd it .
If I where you I think you check with the stealer to see if they can replace it , it could be worth the try.
I agree that it's worth a try. You might want to see if the dealer could order you a new one from an '04 or '05 if they are a different model, you may have to pay the price difference, but it might be worth the couple of bucks. My '04 is still solid after 2 years, but I don't know if they changed the mounting system on your '06. The HL on my bike has the eyebrow bolted to the top of the triple clamp and then there is a bolt through the center that attaches the HL capsule. Sounts like they changed things for the cheaper after that.
Take a C Clamp and put a ball bearing on the rivet on the inside of the shell
tighten up the c clamp on the ball bearing and it will tighten the rivet.
