My 08 Dyna Low Rider seems to shake so much my "ole" lady stop riding (could be a blessing)...but I have noticed it asl well. My winshield bags makes so much noise I have to unclutch it. I only have about 3K miles on it but there seems to be more vibration than before. My wife says the foot pegs and back rests vibrates real bad during specific times during up shifting and down shifting. Is this normal? I came off a Suzuki M50 bouevard that had no vibration at all. So I don't know what is normal vibs or abnormal? Can anyone shed to light on this issue?
I'd just start with checking for loose bolts first and definitely check the top mount it has been known to loosen up . If you dont find the problem then with a service manual do an alignment and torque to spec all mounts and isolators. If that doesnt help it could be tune related or a loose exhaust like SeeNoSun had. Some have had bad isolators with low mileage. Dynas will always vibrate to a degree but when it starts to increase it is time to look into it. Good luck and if none of what I posted helps let me know and we can look deeper.
and it really reduced the violence in my new-to-me 1995 FXDS-C. I didn't make a shim but I did use some thick heavy duty washers; the shim will follow when I get my new mounts. I should add that my front motor mount has collapsed and I suspect the same is true for the rear.
I would take it to dealer and let them check the things over,
thats why we pay for the warranty. they should have check all the bolts
at your 1,000 mile service, if you took it to them. if not it should be covered under warranty.
It is normal for passenger to get vibes through the passenger pegs. Since they are mounted on the swingarm the passenger gets to feel all the bumps from the road suface.
Replacing the front isolator did fix my bad vibes. But I think in palmbeachcpl's case it would be best to start slow and check torque values on all mounting hardware and then if that doesnt help we can look deeper.
that is wise. I have some vibes on mine too, but they are tolerable, i dont know what intolerable vibes are. my friend with a softail, said he couldn't stand a bike that vibed like that, but the two motors are different.
My '08 started vibrating since they changed out the crankcase halfs. I brought it back after 600 miles (one week-end) they said o ya it vibes a bit but not extremely! Try anothe 600 miles and if it still vibrates bring it back and....... crap! Well don't you know I put a wrench to the front motor mount bolts and they were barely finger tightness! Of 6 bolts 5 were loose! Does anyone have a drawing of the motormount scheme with the torque values? I'd like to check through . BTW I have an appointment thursday sept 4 for them to go over it,but damn I can't trust these clowns!
