I've found 65 ftlb insufficient clamp load on the upper tree to keep it from sliding forward
between the star nut and hex nut on normal braking, so what you get is a hard clunk sound when you use the front brake, and a click sound when you hit the rear brake.
Repeat this process enough times and the material will wear down and you will lose the little clamp load you have and also lose neck bearing preload.
